Chauncy Terms of Service

1. Acceptance
By purchasing or using Chauncy, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Chauncy.
2. License
Chauncy grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to install and use Chauncy on computers you own or control. You may not resell, sublicense, or distribute Chauncy.
3. One-Time Purchase
Chauncy is sold as a one-time purchase. You receive access to the current version and all future updates to that major version. We reserve the right to introduce new major versions with separate pricing, with advance notice to existing customers.
4. Your Data
Your documents and data belong to you. Chauncy does not claim any rights over content you import into the application. Refer to the Privacy Policy for information on how data is handled.
5. User Curation and Output
Chauncy retrieves and connects material to help you work with the documents you have chosen to keep. When you enable optional AI synthesis, Chauncy can also summarize or draft based on those documents through a provider you have selected. You are responsible for reviewing source material, evaluating relevance and accuracy, and deciding how to use any results, annotations, or AI-assisted synthesis.
Chauncy is not an autonomous agent and should not be treated as one. It does not make decisions, operate accounts, or take external actions on your behalf.
6. Acceptable Use
You may not use Chauncy:
- To process data in violation of applicable laws or regulations
- In compliance-regulated environments for which Chauncy is not designed (see Privacy Policy)
- To reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the application beyond what applicable law permits
7. No Warranty
Chauncy is provided “as is.” We make no warranty that Chauncy will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose. Use it at your own risk.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chauncy’s liability for any claim arising from your use of the application is limited to the amount you paid for it.
9. Refunds
Refund requests within 14 days of purchase will be honored. See the Return Policy for details.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via the website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
